Well, that’s the question, isn’t it? How do we ever know if someone is flirting with us? WE DON’T. Are they just nice and trying to be friendly or are they trying to get in your pants. You don’t know. You can only guess. And my point is that I am over-compensating for feeling nervous or awkward by doing or saying things that are … outrageous, if only by my historical behavior. I think it is actually an improvement in my personality, because it might come from a place where I am starting to care less if i look ridiculous. I feel like if a third person were paying attention it would LOOK like flirting.

Accidental Flirting

The first time I noticed I do it, was in the airport in Boston. I was in line at Dunkin Donuts, and the guy in front of me ordered and paid and then the cashier switched immediately to me, while he was still trying to get his change and arrange his stuff. I ordered and paid and then just jokingly pushed toward the guy and said, “Oh excuse me while I get all up in your personal space.” He laughed and looked over at me and that was when I realized he was actually a fairly attractive middle-aged guy (ie near to my age). Which is when I realized it might be flirting, even though I hadn’t really been meaning to.

You can go ahead and point out that that is TERRIBLE flirting, but I didn’t say I was good at it, just that it is happening.

I’m starting to think that I flirt with complete strangers in awkward situations. I have found myself looking back after several encounters thinking “Why did I say/do that?”

I must be pretty bad at it, because I never get any reactions short of what you would expect normal human beings to be able to produce in normal situations.

Lest you think I’m flirting on purpose, would you flirt with the gas station attendant because you couldn’t make the bathroom key work?

Just so you know, this review is mainly going to be me giving a ton of praise to each of the actors in this thing, because Holy Chuck, I’m impressed. I want to go through each of these actors/characters and give a really close look at why they deserve awards for their performances in this episode.

But first I want to comment on two other things: the story, and the writing. You may be thinking that these are the same thing, but they’re really not. The story was absolutely astounding, but it was also the dialogue - the way in which that story was told that made this episode so amazing. Putting that script in the hands of these talented actors made for one of the most gripping hours of television I have ever experienced. This is going down in the books as an episode of Supernatural that I will come back to watch again and again.

Ok, I know I mostly post about how adorable I think the boys are, but THIS post does a good job of capturing why I ACTUALLY love Supernatural. I’m just not usually this eloquent so I just throw out the surface stuff. Luckily, other people on the internet ARE this eloquent.
