If you have AT&T and are going to Toronto, the cheapest option to make your iPhone usable for voice & data is $55. That’s 120MB of Data and 50 minutes of voice.
Yeah. It sucks. But if my clients call…
If you don’t need voice or data you can get 50 outgoing text messages for $10. Incoming are free (at least on my plan, which has unlimited text messages). Otherwise it is $.50 per text message!

Good grief. My iPhone lust has been pretty much vanquished by this thread. My $25 month prepaid phone has unlimited data and texting in Canada, and my voice minutes carry across the border as well.

If you’re an iPhone person, remember that iMessages are treated as data use, separate from Text Messages.

4S on Verizon, don’t forget you can ask them to unlock it so you can get a prepaid SIM card in Canada.
