I’m super unhappy with my haircut. I got it cut in April and was unhappy with it, but I thought that that was my fault because I really wasn’t very specific and she left it WAY too long. I went back, this time with pictures. She sort of brushed away the pictures and said, yeah, you need 3 or 4 inches off. That was true so I just went with it. Well. She took inches off but basically none off the top, where I really needed it off. The pictures I showed her were clearly ones where the top layer was shorter. When she was done I looked at it and expressed concern about how long the top layer was. She said, “there are a lot of layers in there.” Which led me to worry that if she kept cutting things would get worse. She sat me down and put a couple more snips in but I felt like I was going to barf the whole time because I was anxious that it was going to be ruined. I’m so bad at haircuts, guys. Like, so bad.

She has given me good cuts before. I don’t know what to do, but I’ve already shelled out $80 twice in the last 3 months, I can’t really afford to do it again.

Sigh.

  2. do-over said: Nicky, call her or the salon. Say you’re not happy. They’ll bring you back in and fix it. You’ll feel better about everything. It’s a small/big thing, demanding what we want.
  3. elizabite said: *I* see what you mean about the top. I am sorry she didn’t understand. Sometimes stylists will fix a haircut for free if you call the next day or close to it. Is that too anxiety-inducing?
  4. cateyesbeesknees said: they will usually fix/touch-up a cut you’re not happy with for no additional monies. tell her you want a disconnected 180 and show her on your head where you want the shortest layer to hit. :-D
  5. ungracefulme said: Come visit and I will take you to my hair woman who is great as is her assistant. haircut anxiety is the worst worst worst. :(
  6. inmi said: Hate when I’m unhappy with a haircut. I always call the salon to let them know and usually they’ll try to fix for free.

  9. frageelay said: If you’re not happy, she will fix it at no additional charge. You can tip her to assuage your conscience. Go back in and ask for what you want; that’s her job.
