They don’t know for sure. The antibiotics are a “let’s see if this helps before we do anything else” kind of thing. He did seem a little perkier this morning.

I took Vanilla to the vet today
Long story short: it might be something we can clear up with antibiotics, but the vet said, “You might want to get prepared to make a decision.”
To be honest, I’m pretty sure he knows the antibiotics aren’t going to work, but the tests involved in figuring it out are expensive and there wouldn’t be much they could do anyway.
I guess I knew the rats might not live...
