If you thought that post was nothing more than an ungrateful whine about having a lot of followers, you read it wrong. Or did not really read it. I will anser ALL your emails later. I am at work and the keyboard on this phone is not conducive to answering emqails at lenght or even writing a tumblr post withiut errors. Peace out homies. and assholes.
I am at work and too harried to find the original post, but I had just been wondering how you and the new king of twitter were handling the new followers. I thought your response to it MADE PERFECT SENSE.
One of the things I like about Tumblr (I say Tumblr rather than Twitter because I’m not, personally, very active on Twitter) is that it is a very giving community. I feel like most just enjoy enjoying each other. While there is occasionally a little drama (and, honestly, life is always going to have a little), mostly people seem pretty down to earth and willing to just cut each other some slack. There are plenty of people I follow who don’t follow me. They don’t owe me a follow (my passive-aggressive mocking of the fact that giromide doesn’t follow me is just my own personal joke). They don’t owe me anything. But I ENJOY what they post and it makes me happy. As long as they want the audience, I’m here.
When you get into those HUGE numbers, not everyone is going to view things that way. You are going to get people who are more about the ego than the fun. You don’t owe those people anything. Don’t let the fact that you don’t want to deal with a bunch of obnoxious whiners make you feel bad about yourself!
As always, I feel awkward about posting this, and not sure if it says exactly what I mean, but OH WELL.
